Our work with the community

The London Eye is proud to have played a significant role in the regeneration of the South Bank. As part of our commitment to the local area the London Eye funds local projects through section 106 monies. Examples of local projects include:

  • Funding Coin Street Community builders Healthy Living Club
  • Funding a homework/networking club for SE1 United
  • Sponsoring a Wildlife Garden study for ‘Roots and Shoots’
  • Paying for a fundraiser for the Waterloo Green Trust
  • Aiding Waterloo Community Counselling
  • Paying for a Public Realm Manager for the South Bank area
  • Funding improved lighting along the South Bank

The London Eye also donates large number of tickets to our chosen local charities Waterloo Green Trust, Contact a Family and also Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital NHS Trust. We also work with Starlight Foundation, Make a Wish and the Willow Trust in order to give children with life limiting and terminal illnesses a great day out

Did you know?

Blast off

The spindle holds the wheel structure and the hub rotates it around the spindle. At 23 meters tall, the spindle is around the size of a church spire and, together with the hub, weighs in at 330 tonnes: over 20 times heavier than Big Ben.
